ak205 Questions
Here are a list of questions and answers in regards to the Arcane’s Valor variant game, ak205. Please note, that 11 positions are already filled and that I wish to limit the game to 21 players.

Q&A
1) Is the Valor rule of getting 3 artifacts an additional rul enext to the 55% taxbase? OR an instead of rule?
==> It is an additional rule that will only take affect if a king actually holds all 3 artifacts. All other rules are still in affect.
2) How are these artifacts found? Just from features/monsters, or can they ‘drop’ from heaven like with Valhalla isits?
==> Yes, from features.
3) If a character has found 1 of the artifacts, does this ‘show up’ in a report of some sort with other characters? (So we can order to hero’s to steal it from them?)
==> Yes, all other kings will know who has possession of each artifact once it has been found.
4) Are all artifacts of valor only once in the game? Or can it be there multiple times? (like the Crown of Dragonkind)
==Yes, there can be only one!
5) How are the alignments divided with 20 players? Same like AK914 but then with 1 extra of each alignment?
==> yes, the alignments will be balanced, although there may be less undead/divine.
6) “Vampires are the nemesis of cavalry and eagles. They can move by flying
or marching (if marching, your March ability helps move them farther.) ”
How does this work? Are therre different orders for vampires (like WA (walk) and FY (Fly)?
==> No, there is only one type of vampire. What this means is that if they are moving over seas or a flooded hex, then they must obviously use their wings and fly. The MA ability will affect flyers ability to move 5+, unlike dragons and eagles which are limited to 5 movement points no matter how high the MA of the general.

Hi Guy, I will begin setting up ak915 this weekend and if I receive everyone’s setups I will send out the birthright reports this weekend as well. I am trying to get away from using email as much as possible so I will only use emails to send turn reports or in the case of an emergency. However, for this game only I will send out an email requesting setups from all 7 players.

The first 10 turns will be every 7 days, and then the remainder of the game will be every 14 days. If you have not already sent me your 3 setups, please do so now. I still have room for 5 players. Please let me know your name too.

Yes it is a full diplo game. The game will begin on Sunday and there is still room for two more players.

hi, where can I find explanation about the Arcane’s Valor variant game ? I don’t find anything about that in the rules.
In my opinion, full diplo game is a game where every player get the email of every other player at the first turn. Isn’t it ?

You will get the email of your neighbours only, but there’s no restrictions if you know another player involved even if not neighbouring him you can start communication with him.

Can vampires conquer empty sea hexes evenhough they can’t fight while in flight form?

Yes they can. Just like whales or flyers that are led by heroes with low druid skills, vampires can conquer any hex which is not defended by armies/navies.

Vampire Questions:
1. Are Vampires effected by Plagues?
2. Are Vampires affected by NA abilities of a leader?
3. Can a Grand Admiral or Grand Marshal (or both) recruit 2 Vampire armies?
2. Are Vampires considered a Skeletal Army (since they could be considered family of the Undead)?
Swamp Questions:
1. Do Fleets also lose 1 extra movement point when moving into a Swamp (it only says something about Flying armies, Mermaids and Marauders, not Fleets and Whales)?
2. What happens if an army only has 1 movement point left and enters a Swamp. Is there still a battle being fought?

Hi Bert, excellent questions and I don’t have the answer to all of them, but here goes.
Vampires:
1) No, because they are not humanoid
2) Not certain, but since MA allows them to move further, then I will assume that NA should do the same.
3) I truly do not know! Please share this info once you find out.
4) No, vampires are not skels
Swamps:
1) whales and fleets lose one movement point
2) this is a bit tricky and I cannot remember the answer to it. There are no rules/explanations provided to the GMs that is not already available to the players. Again, let me know what you discover. I do believe that if you have MA-0 and move from an adjacent hex, that you would force a battle.

Was hoping people would turn in their turns a little rapidly here at the beginning so we could get a reasonable turn-around time.

Yes it is, but it would be nice if you also provided a name so I would know if you are one of the late players.
also, the turns will be every 7 days for the first 10 turns, and then every 14 days after that. I will be setting the deadlines for Sundays and the first deadline is March 14th @2400 GMT.

Quick question – not Arcane Valor related
but didn’t want to start a new post just to ask the question.
If one of my chars picks up an item that gives him +1 while it is in his possession and does not have that skill (e.g. He picks up the Holy grail for a +1 WH) can he then train other chars to 1 WH?

Hi Bill, in answer to your question, any magic item that gives a hero +1 in a skill does not allow him to teach that skill to another hero. To put it in perspective, if the hero had WH-2 and an item gave him +1 WH, then he would have WH-3. But he could only teach WH-2. When another kingdom receives intell on this same hero, they will only see that he has WH-2 if that is his best skill.

Hey all,
I am having problems entering orders into Winsaga. In particular I am unsure of how to enter orders that relate to a specific unit, i.e. when trying to recruit a mercenary – how do I put the order in? I have been trying to type the unit number in but it does not seem to work?
Any help much appreciated!

Hi Toby,
To recruit a mercenary you simply recruit the type of unit of the mercenary in the province the mercenary is in. You will automatically get the mercenary unit if it’s of average quality or higher. So for example, lets say there’s a crack legion mercenary to be had in province 1212 (which has phalanx units for hire). You simply walk a hero to province 1212 and there give a recruit army order for a legion. You will now get the crack legion mercenary.
